SAN DIEGO, CALIF. — Virtuous Vittles, a new, plant-based pet nutrition brand, recently made its debut at SUPERZOO 2025. With the brand’s launch, it introduced Bountiful Land, a “first-of-its-kind,” shelf-stable morels in gravy plant-based food for dogs.
Formulated by board-certified veterinary nutritionist Sarah Dodd, Ph.D., Virtuous Vittles products are high-protein, whole food, nutritionally complete recipes that exceed Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) standards, according to the brand. The meals are human-grade and made in the United States.
“We couldn’t find a single plant-based wet food that cats or dogs genuinely enjoyed,” said Briana Schweizer, co-founder of Virtuous Vittles. “So, we spent years perfecting the texture, flavor and nutrition. Now, 10 out of 10 dogs and eight out of 10 cats in informal taste tests gobble it up at first sniff.”
Virtuous Vittles aims to shake up the growing plant-based pet food category, which is expected to reach $50 billion within the next decade. As pet parents are growing more environmentally conscious, the brand plans to be among the first to introduce new plant-based innovations.
