Virtuous Vittles was dreamt up by lifelong friends, inspired by a love of all creatures, wild and tame, and a deep concern about conventional pet foods and their environmental impact. Briana and Lisbeth set out to find a better alternative — and when they couldn’t, they made one.
They rolled up their sleeves and learned everything they could about animal nutrition and what flavors and textures their furry families actually loved. Their kitchens became laboratories, and their companions became collaborators. After years of development with experts, their complete and balanced, delicious recipes were ready for sharing.
Along the way, they partnered with a board-certified veterinary nutritionist to ensure every meal met and exceeded AAFCO guidelines — not just nutritionally sound, but genuinely gobbled up at first sniff. From their family to yours.

Formulated by a Board-certified Veterinary Nutritionist, Dr. Sarah Dodd, our foods have more protein — from plant-sources chosen for their bioavailability and amino acid profiles — than many conventional foods. Our foods have the ideal protein, fat and fiber levels for both cats and dogs, not just the minimums required and, we think it’s a big part of why cats and dogs find our foods so delicious!

We use retort canning— an efficient cooking and sterilization process— to prepare our recipes. This ensures your furry friend receives optimal nutrition from our fresh, whole ingredients, water-processed protein flours and vitamins from plants.
